Settings for the Integrated Telnet/Web Interface

The integrated telnet/web system builds a web page with frames containing a web page display and a telnet client written in Java. Your web browser must support Java telnet applets for the system to function correctly. Although you can leave them set to Interaction Frame Height
Height in percentage of the total window taken up by the interaction frame. The interaction frame is the bottom-most frame, where you can enter commands and have real-time interaction with BioMOO and the other people inside.

The colors for the text (foreground) and the window behind it (background). Colors are specified like in web pages as an RGB triplet (000000=black, FFFFFF=white, 7F7F7F=gray). If you don't specify a color, your system's defaults will be used.

Font:
You can specify a font in the form Courier-italic.10 where the style and size are optional. For instance, Courier.10 and Courier-italic are OK too. Only fonts, styles and sizes available on your own system are meaningful. Note that the Java implementat

MCP commands accepted
If checked, client responds to MCP commands. This allows the client to perform some automatic functions with your web browser. Selecting this is highly recommended, since that lets the MOO automatically update your web window when appropriate.

Separate Telnet and Web Windows

If you have a MUD/MOO client you prefer, you will probably want to combine it with a web page display but with separate windows. In the instructions below, items in angle brackets should be replaced with the indicated information, omitting the brackets.
  1. Establish a live interaction connection to MooWP using either telnet or a specialized client program (if you have one)
  2. In the telnet/client window, enter MooWP as follows:
    1. If you have a registered userid at MooWP, connect using "connect <name> <password>" where <name> is your userid, and <password> is your password (omit the angle brackets).
    2. If you are instead visiting MooWP as a guest (with a temporary userid) connect using "guest <name> <password>" where <name> will be your temporary userid, and <password> will be the password you enter for the web authentication system in the next step (make one up).
  3. Then open a multimedia window by going to the authentication form on this page, entering your <name> and <password> in the appropriate fields, and selecting the button labelled "Open a web window into the MOO.".
  4. Welcome to MooWP! Feel free to explore.
NOTE: If you already have connected as a guest but didn't supply a password, you can type "@webpass" to be issued a numeric password that can be entered into the authentication form's password field in step three above.

Notice that you will have TWO windows open into MooWP. One (using telnet or a specialized client) is a real-time, text-only window, and the other (using the web brower) is a multimedia web window. The text window will automatically update when you move through BioMOO using the web window. You can select the "Look Around" button at the top of the web window to refresh that view if you move using the text window instead.
